Title: Disappear
Medium: Photoshop Size: 61 x 91 cm Exhibition Text: The creation of this piece was done through the medium called Photoshop. The intention of this piece is to demonstrate something about the artist and through his piece by the way he assembles things. What it is that he wants to show by the type of colors, background and any changes to the image being presented in the piece. |
Process
This piece was done on a computer software called Photoshop. I started by going out to my backyard and took a picture of it to use as my background. In photoshop, I began by making a new background and adding the background that I wanted to use. Then I opened the image of myself that was the one that I used. Next, from the picture of me, I cropped me from the background to use and then pasted the image to the background. I then copied the picture 5 times and placed them together with 3 on top and 3 om the bottom with the same distance to each other. After that I experimented by trying different colors to see how i want to represent the piece. Then I had the idea of making everything a different color and making it look like it had disappeared. So I used a bright yellow for the first two (top and bottom) and so on to white and then black.

Inspiration
My inspiration for this piece is more of an self expierience inspiration but I also tie it to some pop art themes. The way that is how for some types of art they used multiple images of the same thing but in different colors and thats what I did in this piece but instead of them being bright and colorful, they are not. For my experience it comes from how when I am at home I always feel like thats my place to be and relax and forget about lots of things because what helps is the comfort of it and my family. I feel that how it also connects to Pop Art is through Warhol's piece of Campbell Soup because of the way that he used things that had no meaning and made it stand out. And I used myself to and such colors that make it look blurry to make the viewer think about it. |
Reflection
At first through the creation of this piece, I had a different idea for this photoshop piece. It would be a similar idea but different colors, a different image and a different meaning. But then when I thought of how it ended it seemed to me that it was better and easier than what I had thought of before. The struggle of creating this project was having access to the software. The only place that I have access to it is at school so I had to do the work at school when I had the chance when I had art or access to a computer with that program installed. I liked the way how I present it because I want to make it that the multiples of me represent the idea that I disappear frequently. But also I think maybe I could've add more images and also use different colors by starting with light colors up to black. So experiment more with the program to see a different result but with the same meaning. |
Meaning Behind My Piece
The meaning of my piece is behind of oneself. As an artist I feel that when I'm somewhere that I like and feel comfortable is where I relieve myself from a lot of problems I have and other things and empty it out of me and focus on other things like making my art which keeps me focused. Or just being with my family. In this piece I convey that Disapearing represents the feeling of emptiness within the artist that he needs something to feel that void of releaving things like stress and worries. I want to convey that I disappear in a way when I feel that sense that it goes away from me and I focus on whats important. And that is shown through somewhere that I feel that way. Overall, my meaning through this piece is to show how the emptiness starts to show within the artist when he is somewhere that keeps him that way and the emptiness is something that came from relieving from certain things.

ACT Question
- Clearly explain how you are able to identify the cause-effect relationships between your inspiration and its effect upon your artwork.
The cause of my work is the inspiration that I used to make this piece and the effect it has upon my piece is the resemblance it uses like the artwork the artist inspiration. How it is presented where this piece has multiple images of the same piece and uses different colors to convey the meaning of the artwork. - What is the overall approach (point of view) the author (from your research) has regarding the topic of your inspiration? The approach I took through the inspiration of my piece is regarding how I presented my piece in a similar way as the artist. This was accomplished by using the same image multiple times but adding a different feeling through those images using a different color.
- What kind of generalizations and conclusions have you discovered about people, ideas, cultures, etc. while you researched your inspiration? Through the research, I generalized that the ideas of the artist was to make his piece look important and bright through the colors that he used and why he used that same image many times.
- What was the central idea or theme around your inspirational research?
The central theme of using my inspiration in my work was to potray to make the piece important through how the central theme is being represented. My piece is conveying the idea of emptiness in oneself and how it impacts the person through their life and where they use something to forget that idea. - What kind of inferences (conclusions reached on the basis of evidence and reasoning) did you make while reading your research?
I made conclusions that by looking into using this type of influence, I can use the same type of format but changing it to make my piece the way I wanted to present it. Through the evidence of why the artist chose to use the image he did to make his piece.
